Journey to the heart of the Nepal Himalayas

Join us for a spectacular yoga trip in Nepal and journey to the very heart of the Himalayas. For this two week trip we have brought together all the best aspects of Nepal to create something that is truly ‘PURNAM’, full and abundant.

On this yoga journey we will be inspired not only inwardly, through our daily practice of yoga, meditation and spiritual talks, but also externally by the incredible surroundings and spiritually charged places that we visit. We will experience the ancient temple complexes of Kathmandu, the laid back lake-side town of Pokhara, the beauty and stillness of the high Himalayas in the heart of the Annapurna Conservation Area and the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath that lies at the very edge of the Tibetan plateau.

This truly is a trip to remember, a journey that takes you from Kathmandu, through the Himalayas, right to the border of the Tibetan plateau and the long forbidden kingdom of Lo Manthang.

Joining you for the trip will be two experienced, international yoga teachers, guiding you in daily yoga classes, meditation and afternoon talks. You will also enjoy a class or two with some amazing Nepalese teachers in Pokhara, relax to the sound of Tibetan singing bowls and join the monks in monasteries along the way for their moving chants and pujas. A local guide will accompany us on our travels sharing information about the rich Nepalese culture, fauna and flora.

Itinerary for the Nepal Trip

DAY 1: Kathmandu

Stay at Boudhanth , the Tibetan cultural centre of Nepal.

DAY 2: Pokhara

Travel by private van to Pokhara (5 to 6 hours)

Visit Bandipur, a traditional Newari village on the way to Pokhara

Spend the night at Pokhara

DAY 3: Pokhara

A day relaxing and doing yoga in the lakeside town of Pokhara

DAY 4 to 9: Kalopani village, Annapurna Conservation Area

Morning flight from Pokhara to Jomsom ( 1/2 hour)

Travel by jeep from Jomsom to Kalopani village (2 hours)

For six days we will stay in spectacular Kalopani village in the heart of the high Himalayas.

Kalopani village lies at an altitude of 2 400 meters in the world renowned Annapurna Conservation area. Surrounded by some of the world’s highest peaks, this is the perfect place for yoga and meditation.

Here we will settle into our retreat with twice daily yoga classes, meditation and afternoon talks.

We will also enjoy some long walks into the surrounding mountains (about 5 hour treks, not too strenuous).

DAY 10: Marpha village

Travel by jeep, stopping along the way (only about 1 ½ hours in the jeep but many great places to visit on the way to Marpha)

Travel up the culturally rich Kali Gandaki valley stopping to explore the Himalayan village of Tukuche, the Tibetan settlement of Tserok, Chhairo Gompa (being restored by a world-renowned Thanka painter) and then staying at charming Marpha village.

DAY 11: Muktinath visit, stay at Jomsom village

Travel by jeep, stopping along the way ( about 2 ½ hours up to Muktinath, then 2 back down to Jomsom)

This is the day we will visit the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath, ”the place of freedom or mukti”. This is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Nepal, held sacred by both Buddhists and Hindus alike, it is a place of deep spiritual power and sadhus (holy men) walk from as far away as South India to reach it.

On the way to Muktinath we will visit the ancient Tibetan Citadels of Kagbeni and Jharkhot set against the stark windswept landscapes of the Upper Mustang region.

DAY 12: Pokhara

Fly back from Jomsom to Pokhara

A relaxed day beside the lake, this is the day to explore all the little shops if you would like to take anything back with you.

Day 13: Kathmandu, Boudhanath

Private van from Pokhara to Kathmandu (6 hours)

Travel back to Kathmandu, stopping off for lunch beside the Trishuli River. Bring bathing suits, there is a pool 🙂

Stay once again at Boudhanath close to the Boudhanath stupa.

Day 14: Sightseeing Kathmandu, Boudhanath

Visit the ancient temple complexes of Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and the historical Durbar Square in front of the old royal palace of Kathmandu.

Day 15: End of retreat

Our last morning meditation together. Breakfast and farewells.

We have carefully planned our trip so that wherever we are we can enjoy our daily yoga and meditation. When in Kalopani village we will also have talks and mini-workshops in the afternoons.

This tour is a careful balance of some relaxing in Pokhara, retreat in Kalopani, a pilgrimage to Muktinath finished of by some temple sightseeing in Kathmandu. All this supported and held by our daily yoga practice.


All the accommodation we have chosen along the route is of a very good standard, well located, bright rooms with attached bathrooms and a certain charm.

The rooms are double occupancy during the trip. If you do not want to share a room, single occupancy can be organised at a different rate.

On the trip up to Muktinath, for two nights the accommodation is simpler as the guesthouses are geared mainly towards trekkers.

The teachers and guides

Narada Marcel Turnau

Narada lived in a yoga ashram in Germany for nearly 9 years and he loves to travel. He trained more than 500 yogateachers and studied the ancient scriptures of Yoga and Advaita Vedanta. He is a teacher for Meditation, Yoga, vedic knowledge, relaxation and cooking and he is been awarded as Yoga-Acharya. More on Narada in german you can find here.

Lindy Clarke

Lindy spent the best part of a decade in Asia immersing herself in its spiritual traditions. Part of this time was spent on a two year retreat in the Nepal Himalayas, thus her great love for Nepal and its spiritual traditions.

Lindy loves sharing practical, down to earth tips for one’s spiritual practice. She believes learning to listen to the body is key to a healthy yoga asana practice, that each individual is unique, and as such needs to find their own unique path.

Lindy’s training as a yoga teacher was in Vinyasa flow, from there she explored different schools of hatha yoga; Ashtanga, Sivananda, Tao Yin. She greatly enjoys incorporating the grounding and aligning principles of Tai Chi into her yoga practice, finding this allows one to have a firm, stable and energetically flowing practice.

On retreat Lindy will share some of the tips and techniques that she has found to be of deep value to her own practice. She will help you take a close look at alignment, the pattern of breath and how to release tensions in order to come naturally to your balanced centre.

Travel health insurance

We strongly recommend taking travel health insurance, one that includes air ambulance (helicopter lift) if needed is best for Nepal. Please bring your health insurance details with you so that when you check in we can get a copy of the details from you.
